The shortage, which began last week in the administrative capital Abuja and the economic capital Lagos, has caused long queues at the few petrol stations that sell fuel. To remedy this situation, Nigeria announces that it will supply its service stations.

The national oil company (NNPC) said it had sufficient stock to end the shortage and added that it expected further deliveries of gasoline by the end of the month. Thus, the country will supply its service stations for 24 hours to end a week of fuel shortages, causing major traffic jams in the main cities of the country. The company is urging Nigerians to avoid panic buying, saying its measures will restore normalcy within days.
