With 3.7 million m3 in 2021, Gabon turns out to be the largest wood producer in the CEMAC zone. The country has boosted its wood production over the past decade, helped in this direction by the activity of the SEZ of Nkok.

According to reports from the General Directorate of the French Treasury, Gabon has gone from producing 1.9 million m3 of wood in 2012 to 3.7 million m3 in 2021, almost doubling in a decade. Figures that make it the leading producer in CEMAC ahead of Cameroon (2.4 million m3), and which are partly due to the development of the special economic zone of Nkok. Log production nevertheless fell over the period, dropping from 90% to 63%. Lee White, the Minister of Water and Forests, also assured that "today, we cut less wood than in 2005 in Gabon, but we earn 4 times more money, we have created 3 times more jobs”.
