In 2021, Côte d'Ivoire recorded a 24.4% jump in its cotton export volumes compared to the previous year. Provisional port statistics published on Monday show 400,239 tonnes (t) of fiber coming from Côte d'Ivoire but also from landlocked Mali and Burkina Faso.

Natural rubber from Côte d'Ivoire is number 2 in terms of annual performance, with growth of 2% to 1,229,947 t. On the other hand, sales of Ivorian coffee, the Robusta variety, internationally collapsed in 2021, falling by 58% to 28,026 t, again according to provisional customs statistics. As for cocoa and cocoa products, port statistics do not relate to the calendar year but to the last quarter of 2021, corresponding to the first three months of the current 2021/22 campaign. Unsurprisingly, exports of raw beans fell by 15% to 382,864 while cocoa products climbed by 3% compared to the end of 2020, to 121,530 t. It should be noted that while most of these semi-processed products are cocoa butter, around 5,000 t in each of November and December 2021, the volumes of powder are much lower by around of 954 t and 1,929 t respectively over these two months. Port statistics only mention chocolate exports for the month of December, with 304 t.
