The State of Côte d'Ivoire has set the minimum price for seed cotton at 300 FCFA/kg for the 2019-2020 campaign. This was announced by the cotton-cashew council, during a workshop organized on the textile industry, on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, in Grand-Bassam. The price of the 2019-2020 campaign, the amount of which is set at 300 FCFA, is up 17%, compared to the previous campaign which was set at 265 FCFA. For the President of the Cashew Cotton Council, the results of the sector are very encouraging. Thus the number of producers increased from 88,522 to 102,860 between 2018 and 2019. While adding, the increase in areas from 327,204 hectares to 392,131. According to data from the Ivorian Ministry of Agriculture, cotton production Côte d'Ivoire seed increased from 412,646 tonnes during the 2017-2018 campaign to 458,762 tonnes in 2018-2019.
