The American Newmont is targeting attributable production of 6.2 million ounces of gold in 2022, including 1.05 million ounces in Ghana. In Africa, the company is only active in Ghana with the Ahafo and Akyem gold mines where it has already produced 617,000 ounces from January to the end of September 2021.

Since its merger with Goldcorp in January 2019, American gold giant Newmont Corp has been the world's largest gold producer ahead of Barrick. However, it announces that its two gold mines in the West African country, Ahafo and Akyem, will deliver 650,000 and 400,000 ounces respectively. During the first nine months of the year, the world's leading producer of the yellow metal produced 617,000 ounces from its two Ghanaian operations. Its production should also continue to increase at Ahafo until 2024 "due to the higher grade of the open pit [of the deposit] Subika and the increase in the quantities extracted underground with the change in method of 'operating at Subika Underground'.
