The signing of a memorandum of understanding between Benin and the Rice Producers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN) took place this Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at the Ministry of Economy and Finance. A solemn ceremony which took place in the presence of five members of the government.

Sharing of expertise and successful experiences in Nigeria to support the State of Benin to improve rice production in Benin, in order to accelerate its national production target of 1 million tons of rice by 2024, to process and market rice and reorganizing the sector, these are some of the objectives of the Memorandum of Understanding between Jean GBETO DANSOU, General Manager of the Territorial Agricultural Development Agency Niger Valley and Aminu M. GORONYO, President of RIFAN. Surrounded by his colleagues, Aurélien AGBENONCI Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gaston DOSSOUHOUI Minister of Agriculture, Shadiya ASSOUMAN Minister of Industry and Trade, Hamet AGUEMON, Minister-Advisor to the President of the Republic in charge of Investments, the Minister of State in charge of Economy and Finance, Romuald WADAGNI welcomed the signing of this historic agreement to promote Beninese paddy rice. This initiative is perfectly in line with the implementation of the ZLECAF via state interest committees or public-private sectoral committees.
