A delegation from the Association of African Cotton Producers (AProCA) led by its President Moussa SABALY was received by the President of the UEMOA Commission, Abdoulaye DIOP on Thursday September 30, 2021. The objective is to strengthen the partnership between the two institutions since 2011.

Koussouwè KOUROUFEI along with Moussa SABALY and Youssouf Djimé SIDIBE respectively Honorary President and Permanent Secretary of AProCA, was received by President Abdoulaye DIOP. On the occasion, the President of AProCA presented to the President of the Commission the activities of the association, as well as the new Executive Board resulting from the Ordinary General Assembly held in Bamako from May 24 to 26, 2021. 'AProCA, an important player in the implementation of the UEMOA Cotton Agenda, has already had a partnership with the Commission from 2011 to 2013 within the framework of the implementation of the Convention of the University of Cotton (UdC ). From 2011 to 2014, the WAEMU Commission provided financial support to AProCA in the implementation of the Support Project for the Cotton-Textile Sector (PAFICOT).

Indeed, the African Cotton Producers Association's mission is to represent African cotton producers, to defend their interests and to promote the improvement of the productivity and quality of African cotton in order to maintain its competitiveness. This vision is consistent with the objectives of the strategy for the competitiveness of the cotton-textile sector in WAEMU, which aims to improve the productivity of cotton-textile sectors in the WAEMU zone and to support the efforts of States and actors in this strategic sector. . Among other objectives, AProCA wants to be present, defend the positions and bring the proposals of African producers to regional and international bodies where the cotton issue is discussed.
