According to information that has been reported by economic media in Africa, the Asian power has made quite significant investments in Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana. Thus, China tries to dribble past Switzerland.

On the market of Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana, the two West African countries which are the largest cocoa producers on the continent, China is visibly stealing the limelight from Swiss chocolatiers. China has injected 216 billion CFA francs into Côte d'Ivoire. China has also financed the construction of a similar factory in the port city of San Pedro in the form of a loan. In total, this project will cost the Asian power an amount of 216 billion CFA francs. Other infrastructures are being erected on Ivorian soil, again with the support of China, to facilitate the processing of cocoa. The Asian giant has also signed a memorandum of understanding with Ghana through the state conglomerate China General Technology Group (Genertec). It was a project to build a processing plant in the west of the country, at Sefwi-Wiawso, the cost of which is estimated at 100 million dollars.
