Despite pockets of drought and storage difficulties, Côte d'Ivoire produced 25,000 tonnes of cotton seed. The announcement was made during a review of cotton seed pooling for the 2020-2021 campaign, on Sunday August 28 in Bouaké.

Intercoton mentions the production and distribution of 25,000 seeds of the R1, R2 and R3 generations, despite some droughts. The farmers were able to obtain an average germination rate of the production of the seed produced of 70 to 90% with relatively high yields, around 1,300 kg/h, unlike in previous years. The national production of seed cotton, for the 2020-2021 campaign, positions Côte d'Ivoire in 2nd place in Africa with a production of more than 559,000 tons against 490,000 tons the previous campaign.
