Oil on the rise despite the call from the foot of the White House to OPEC. The barrel of Brent from the North Sea for delivery in October ended up 1.14% at 71.44 dollars in London, compared to the close on Tuesday. In New York, the US barrel of WTI for the month of September rose 1.40% to 69.25 dollars. On Wednesday, the price of black gold had first been dragged down due to criticism from the White House against the policy of the producer cartel made up of the thirteen members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and of their ten allies, commonly called OPEC+. OPEC+ members have only modestly increased production since the start of the year after cutting it drastically last year, a move that is supporting crude prices. This fall in prices was gradually reversed with the publication by the US Energy Information Agency (EIA) of the state of commercial crude oil reserves in the United States for the past week, down slightly from 450,000 barrels to 438.8 million barrels.
