For 2022, OPEC anticipates an additional increase of 3.3 mb/d, to some 99.86 million barrels each day, the 100 million mark even being crossed during the second half. This boom is expected to be fueled by non-OECD countries, with China and India exceeding their pre-Covid consumption levels, whether for transport fuels or industrial needs (petrochemicals). Demand is expected to grow this year by 6 million barrels per day (mb/d), reaching an average of 96.6 mb/d, the organization estimates, confirming its previous forecasts. As for supply, on the side of non-OPEC producer countries, it should increase by 2.1 mb/d in 2022, coming from the United States, Canada, Norway and Brazil. But their “upstream” investment, in extraction and exploration, should not experience marked growth, far from 2013 in any case, notes the report. As for OPEC crude production, it rose in June by 590,000 bpd compared to May, to some 26.03 mb/d, according to secondary (indirect) sources cited in the report.
