On the occasion of the first session of the steering and orientation committee responsible for implementing the policy of agricultural subsidies in Cameroon, Gabriel Mbaïrobé, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (Minader) announced the ambition of the government to boost the cocoa-coffee sector.

"This session is very decisive for the start of the experimental phase of implementing subsidy procedures for inputs and productive agricultural equipment in Cameroon", says Gabriel Mbaïrobé, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (Minader). According to the administrator of the Cocoa and Coffee Sector Development Fund (Fodecc), Samuel Donatien Mengue, the system that is being put in place at this stage is open to all cocoa and coffee producers. Through this system, the State has arranged for the needs of equity to only grant the subsidy for an average of two hectares per beneficiary. Clearly, “if a producer has 10 hectares, he has two alternatives. Either he is helped on two hectares, or he places the other eight hectares with the children. For us it's not cheating, but it does allow children to access and replace parents at some point, ”says the administrator of Fodecc.
