A framework for reflections and bilateral actions called Initiative Côte d'Ivoire-Ghana in the cocoa sector which was officially set up on June 21, at the Sofitel Abidjan Hôtel Ivoire. This event marked the first meeting of the Steering Committee, which is the supreme body of this regional institution.

Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana, which alone claim more than 60% of the world production of cocoa beans, have indeed created a framework for bilateral reflection and action. This initiative constitutes the framework of official exchanges which will make it possible to coordinate in a joint way a cocoa policy in order to promote, favor and defend the collective interests of the two countries on the international market, as well as in all international forums. Indeed, the supreme body of this institution will be chaired annually in rotation by one of the ministers in charge of agriculture of the two countries. For this year, it is chaired by the Ghanaian Minister of Food and Agriculture, Owusu Afryie-Akoto. Also, it was decided that the permanent headquarters of Iccig be in Ghana and that the executive secretariat should always be provided by an Ivorian. In this sense, Alex Arnaud Assanvo has been appointed Executive Secretary for a five-year term.
