The China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC) said on Thursday that certain brands and international organizations should stop inappropriately excluding cotton produced in China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and related products in their supply chains.

The CNTAC statement opposed any move to stigmatize Xinjiang cotton, whose quality has been recognized worldwide. The council urged these brands and organizations to abide by the solemn stance of Chinese businesses and consumers and immediately correct their wrongful actions. "China has the largest and most the most comprehensive in the world, and it is open to the world," the statement said, adding that CNTAC supports the normal operation of transnational enterprises and their efforts to establish industrial and supply chains in China.

The institution will continue to support Xinjiang's cotton production, and facilitate the development of Xinjiang's textile and garment industry.
