Efforts to combat child trafficking are bearing fruit. Four suspected traffickers of children have been arrested in cocoa plantations in Côte d'Ivoire.

Côte d'Ivoire is stepping up its efforts to combat the phenomenon of child trafficking in cocoa fields. Thus, the Police arrested 4 suspected traffickers of children and rescued 19 children while they were being transported to the cocoa plantations.
Bloomberg indicates that these are mainly minors aged 12 to 17 from Burkina Faso and northern Côte d'Ivoire who were destined for farms located in the town of Aboisso, in the south-east.
The report commissioned by the United States Department of Labor (DoL) and carried out by the Research Organization of the University of Chicago (NORC) in 2020 showed that 1.5 million children worked in cocoa production in Côte d ivory and Ghana.
