The collective of cooperative societies of Indénié-Djuablin (CSC-ID) asked Friday, November 27, 2020 during a meeting in Abengourou, a special measure authorizing the marketing of cocoa of small grains, considering that the problem of high grain in the Eastern region, is due to climate change and not to poor agricultural practice.

"If in our region something special can be done at the level of our exporters so that they can accept the production of the planters", pleaded the president of the CAPRESSA cooperative, Yao Nestor member of the CSC-ID in the face of the refoulement by Eastern cocoa exporters and processors whose grain size exceeds 115 beans per 100 grams.

Climate change in recent years along the eastern ridge of Côte d'Ivoire (Abengourou Aboisso), is a threat to the agricultural sector. The Indénié-Djuablin region experienced again this year 2020 in the middle of the rainy season, three months of rain stoppage, from the beginning of July to September with an unfavorable impact on the consistency of the beans.

"Today we see that the grain we usually produce has increased for this campaign and has reached 117 or even 120 beans per 100 grams, while the standard provides for a tolerance of up to 105 beans per 100 g", confided the CSC-ID representative.

Mr. Yao asked the Coffee and Cocoa Council, which draws up the quality criteria, to have a watchful eye to find ways and solutions to relieve the farmers who are struggling to produce cocoa in the East of the Côte d 'Ivory.
