Luanda — British Petroleum (BP) Angola reduced emissions and combustion of polluting gases from 60 to 4 million cubic feet from 2016 to 2018, making the oil industry less damaging to the environment.

This fact was revealed on Monday in Luanda by the general manager of BP Angola, Hélder Silva, who justified the permanence of the 4 million cubic feet of gas for the continuation of the company's activities.

Speaking to the press after a forum on energy market trends, the director said that between 2016 and 2018 his company had done painstaking work to reduce emissions and combustion of polluting gases, which has considerably reduced the levels of environmental pollution.

"Reducing the emissions and combustion of pollutants as much as possible, in order to make the oil business increasingly cleaner and less harmful to the environment, should be the behavior of the companies that exploit and produce oil", he said. -He underlines.

Regarding BP's future plans, he announced the start of exploration of the Platina oil field, which will start in mid-2020 and produce in 2021. With four exploration wells, Platinum is expected to produce 44 million barrels of oil/year.

Currently, BP produces around 130,000 barrels of oil per day, which represents 10% of Angola's total production.

Present on the Angolan market for more than 25 years, BP has invested approximately thirty billion dollars in oil projects located in blocks 31 to 18, among others where it operates. It employs around 774 people, 88% of whom are Angolans.

British Petroleum (BP) is a United Kingdom-based multinational that operates in the energy sector, primarily oil and gas.
