Togo and 3 other West African neighbors (Benin, Burkina Faso, and Mali) will benefit from a
$3.6 million to strengthen their Shea sector.
This resource is part of the Regional Inclusive Business Development Support Program
of the Shea Sector (PRADCIFK), launched by the Global Shea Alliance, and funded by the Integrated Framework
reinforced (CIR).
In concrete terms, this involves facilitating shipments of shea kernels to these four countries (Togo being
incidentally 7th world producer), in addition to promoting access for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)
to international markets, to boost their revenues.
In terms of numbers, the Program wants to increase the annual shea trade by 28,880 tons,
strengthen the capacities of more than 30,000 women collectors and processors, and support nearly
2200 SMEs.
As a reminder, in Togo, this buoyant sub-sector set up an umbrella last October, bringing together
nurseries, collectors and almond processors. The structure thus brings together more than 800 women
in the central, Kara and Savanes regions, which benefit in particular from the guarantees of the Sector Support Project
agriculture (PASA).
