In October and November, i.e. the first two months of the 2019/20 campaign, exports of
cocoa (40% of total Ivorian exports) reached 233,679 tonnes (t), up 19% from
compared to the same first two months of the previous campaign. Note that export volumes
in October alone were revised considerably upwards, from an estimated 6 412 t
previously at 11,907 t now.
On the other hand - and this is the only shadow in this statistical picture - exports of semi-finished products from the
cocoa fell by 18% over the same two months, to 57,278 t. These are the powder and the
cocoa butter and chocolate.
From January to November 2019, coffee bean exports jumped by 43%, to 98,470 t. Again, the
October figures have been revised upwards from an estimated 5,761 t to 10,479 t.
For natural rubber in the first 11 months of 2019, shipments increased by more than
19%, totaling 756,876 t. The October figures were very strongly corrected, going from 49,311 t to 94,131
t.
And cotton is not left out! Also from January to November, international sales increased by
7%, to 375,695 t. Remember that fiber from landlocked countries such as Mali and Burkina Faso are
transported to Abidjan and dispatched from there. The statistics for October have also been revised upwards, from 9
404 t announced in the port's previous monthly report at 13,153 t.
