The Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) has increased its capital by 376%. The Khartoum-based institution increased its capital from USD 4.2 billion to USD 20 billion.

BADEA has announced an increase in its authorized capital by 376%, from USD 4.2 billion to USD 20 billion. The historic capital increase was unanimously approved by all 18 of the bank's sovereign shareholders, members of the League of Arab States. The new capital structure will provide a total authorized capital of USD 20 billion, of which USD 10 billion will be subscribed and USD 5 billion paid in. This increase puts the bank's capital base and overall structure on par with other highly rated multilateral development banks.
