The general direction of taxes informs, during a session of sensitization to the fiscal civism, that Côte d'Ivoire shows a rate of the tax pressure below the standard in the space of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU).

"The rate of tax pressure in Côte d'Ivoire is 12.5%, while the WAEMU standard is 20%," said the deputy director of the promotion of tax compliance, Diallo Nabo Seraphin. While conducting an awareness session on tax compliance, he asked taxpayers to avoid focusing on tax rates and only consider the contribution of taxes to economic development and social welfare. The rate of tax pressure is defined as the average of all its taxes in relation to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the country considered.
