British-born Maurice Goddard becomes Auditor General of the African Development Bank (AfDB) effective May 16, 2022. The AfDB announced the appointment of Maurice Goddard in a statement dated April 8.

Maurice Goddard is a senior internal audit, risk management and finance executive with extensive international experience spanning over 33 years. According to the AfDB, his experience spans a wide range of activities, with a particular focus on financial services, regulated industries, organizations engaged in transformative change, and organizations whose development is driven by technology. He has held a number of senior positions approved by financial regulators in the UK.

His key achievements have been the integration of Egg Bank's internal audit capability into the insurance sector and the creation of a group-wide internal audit function, which has strengthened the Board's oversight of the business.
