The electricity deficit is a huge blow to households and businesses. In order to solve this thorny problem, the State of Cameroon has validated a vast investment program in the energy sector.

This lack of energy supply causes inconvenience to the production tool, sometimes causing losses of more than 23% to companies according to the Inter-employer Group of Cameroon (GICAM). The strategy, according to the government, consists of placing emphasis on the development of renewable energies, in particular solar, photovoltaic and biomass energy, backed by hydroelectricity, which currently represents more than 90% of the country's energy mix.

According to the Minister of Water and Energy, Gaston Eloundou Essomba, over the next 5 years, the projects already matured, the start-up of which will be effective, will relate to an overall envelope of 2,000 billion FCFA (i.e. 3.3 billion of dollars).
