The Gambia and Senegal unite around an energy supply project. The Managing Director of Senelec Papa Mademba Bitèye and the Managing Director of Nawec, a Gambian electricity company, signed this Thursday, March 31, 2022, a contract for the transfer of energy of 30MW.

The energy transfer contract makes it possible to inject a power of 30 MW which can reach 50 MW in the space of 5 years. Senelec's energy supply to NAWEC has been strengthened since December 2021 with the delivery of energy to Bassé from the Bantantinti HTA substation supplied from the OMVG HTB Tamba substation. As a reminder, as part of the cooperation between Senegal and The Gambia, Senelec and NAWEC had signed on August 25, 2017 an Electricity Transfer Contract for a power between 3MW and 10 MW for a period of one year. renewable by tacit agreement at the 30 kV MV substations of Keur Ayib, Karang.
