The construction project of the Meckhe - Saint-Louis axis in Senegal has just benefited from financing of 270 million dollars from the Islamic Development Bank (IDB).

The IDB announces that it has granted a loan of $270 million to the Senegalese State for the construction of the Meckhe - Saint-Louis section, a segment of the Dakar - St-Louis highway. The Dakar - Saint-Louis motorway project, one of the key elements of the Emerging Senegal Plan (PSE), will reduce vehicle operating costs and travel time, and provide better access to services and regional social facilities.

Also called ''The coast'', the Dakar - St-Louis highway should extend over 200 km and integrate several toll booths. It will constitute an essential link of the trans-African corridors, Tangier - Nouakchott - Dakar - Lagos and Algiers - Nouakchott - Dakar, for which extensions are planned towards Madrid in Spain.
