The African Development Bank (AfDB) is committed to filling the financing gap of 42 billion dollars, or 24,150 billion FCfa for women entrepreneurs in Africa and unleashing their entrepreneurial capacity and their full potential. Thus, it launched a call for proposals for the transition of women entrepreneurs from the informal economy to the formal economy.

The Pan-African Bank is looking for innovative projects to attract women to the formal economy and thus reduce their risk of not benefiting from the services and protection provided by their country. This program also increases their chances of accessing the financing they need. Submitted proposals must, first, demonstrate innovative approaches to building an ecosystem of support for women's entrepreneurship aimed at moving from the informal to the formal economy. Second, it will be about developing innovative ways to deliver advisory services that address issues that prevent women entrepreneurs in the informal economy from formalizing their businesses. Finally, the projects to be submitted must include innovative financial mechanisms and programs to help financial institutions, including Fintechs, to bring women in the informal sector to use financial services and, in doing so, help them to move from informal economy to the formal economy.
