Still healing the wounds caused by the aborted takeover of Bolloré's African assets, the CMA CGM group of the Saadé family is not in despair. It is pursuing its strategy to strengthen itself in African ports.

A delegation went to Bissau at the end of 2021. In the Guinea-Bissau capital, the small team of the French company met in particular with the management of the Port of Bissau. The latter, which depends on the Administração dos Portos da Guiné-Bissau, has been engaged since 2020 in a vast plan to "revitalize" the port of Bissau, an essential cog in the country's imports and exports. CMA CGM notably assessed the possible contours of an establishment in the country. The port of the capital currently only has a single terminal and two quays with a respective length of 260 meters for the first and 130 meters for the second. Only one international group develops its activities there: Africa Ports & Airports. The latter is very well deployed in neighboring Guinea where it has been present since the 1980s in Conakry.
