The Bceao reveals in its annual report on the evolution of digital financial services in the WAEMU-year 2020, that forty-two (42) initiatives to issue money via mobile telephony are recorded in the Union as of December 31, 2020 with in particular the entry of five (5) new establishments. For its part, Senegal records 7 initiatives.

The report indicates that Senegal recorded seven (7) digital financial services initiatives at the end of December 2020. They account for 13.27 million accounts opened, up 80.07% compared to 2019. Regarding the rate of activity, it stands at 43.68% against 54.75% in 2019. Increases are noted in the use, both in volume and in value, with respective increases of 31.35% and 97.07%, bringing to 572.12 million, the number of operations valued at 9,179.98 billion FCFA at the end of December 2020. In addition, the distribution network was strengthened, with 239,748 service points counted in 2020, against 187,648 in 2019, an increase of 27.76%.
