As part of the fight against fraud and smuggling, customs seized 30 million CFA francs worth of counterfeit notes, 38 kg of gold and medicines.

The soldiers of the economy (customs officers) adopt new strategies. Thus, increased surveillance by agents of the Mobile Intervention Brigade (BMI) in Bamako made it possible to seize 30 million CFA francs worth of counterfeit banknotes, 8 kg of gold, 15 kg of smuggled imported sugar and significant quantities of drugs such as Tramadol. For its part, the secondary office of Kadiana (in the region of Bougouni) recovered 30 kg of gold from Côte d'Ivoire.

On the night of December 19 to 20, 2021, customs officers first came across a depot in which a large batch of prohibited goods was discovered. In Banankoro (near the Mali-Guinea Conakry border), a canoe loaded with 600 boxes of chickens was apprehended by the BMI. A similar operation carried out in Nara was a real feat for the Koulikoro Regional Customs Directorate. The commitment and determination of the agents in the field are highly welcomed by the hierarchy because, for customs, it is a question of fully accomplishing their sovereign missions.
