Faced with the inadequacy of the reforms, transport ticket fraud remains persistent in Côte d'Ivoire. Only about 400 thousand vehicles carry out the technical inspection out of 1.2 million in the country.

Land transport in Côte d'Ivoire is confronted with cases of fraud. About 33% carry out the six-monthly or annual technical inspection, according to the General Directorate of Land Transport and Traffic. Besides, the roads are also deadly. More than 600 deaths and 13,000 injuries caused by traffic accidents are recorded each year in Côte d'Ivoire, according to official statistics.

Most of these accidents are mainly due to human and technical factors. However, the reforms introduced since 2014 were supposed to mitigate the fraud that plagues the land transport sector and, in turn, have an impact on road accidents. Users manage to obtain the technical inspection certificate without going through the stations which cover almost the whole of the national territory.
