In a ranking of countries in value of mobile money transaction, Senegal ranks 3rd in the WAEMU area. According to statistics released by the agencyecofin, transactions are up 37.1% compared to 2019.

34,914.8 billion FCFA ($63 billion) is the amount of transactions via mobile by the 12 electronic money institutions (EME) licensed in the WAEMU zone. The amount concerns transactions for the year 2020. The 12 EMEs are divided into 4 countries in the sub-region, namely Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Mali and Senegal. In this ranking, Senegal is ranked 3rd. Côte d'Ivoire, which has 7 of the 12 EMEs in the WAEMU zone, is ranked first. It is followed by Burkina Faso, Mali is 4th and Benin 5th.
