The first cement plant in Senegal is deploying the most ambitious industrial and environmental project in the sub-region. SOCOCIM has just launched its “Climate Plan” to reduce the carbon footprint of cement.

SOCOCIM is continuing its “Climate Plan” with the construction of a new production line for 10,000 tonnes of cement per day. This new tool will enable it to consolidate its position as the leading cement producer in the country and in the WAEMU zone. The construction of this new line will be carried out by integrating companies that will promote the training and employment of Senegalese talent. This project comes after the commissioning, at the start of the year, of equipment enabling a 25% reduction in energy consumption.

The Climate plan is designed to consume less energy per ton of cement and to allow a gradual elimination of fossil fuels for the manufacture of cement. SOCOCIM's production capacity will increase from 3.5 million to 7 million tonnes per year of low-carbon cement to support the Emerging Senegal plan.
