The operationalization of the ECOWAS Regional Competition Authority (ARCC) requires the establishment of a legal arsenal commensurate with the commitments. Thus, an ARCC team led by the Executive Director Dr. Siméon Koffi and composed of the Principal Program Officer for Legal Affairs, Investigations, Compliance and Law Enforcement, Dr. Yaouza OURO-SAMA presented this Monday, December 06, 2021 draft legal texts to the ECOWAS Parliament.

In total, 5 draft texts were presented to the ECOWAS Parliament. This presentation comes following the validation of the draft texts by the meeting of Trade Ministers of ECOWAS Member States which was held on November 25, 2021 in Lomé, Togolese Republic and as a prelude to their examination by the 86th ordinary session of the Council of Ministers and the 60th ordinary session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government which will be held respectively on December 9 and 10 and December 12, 2021 in Abuja, in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The various projects concerned customs, the Supplementary Act amending the Supplementary Act relating to the creation, attributions and functioning of the ARCC, the Regulations relating to the attributions and composition of the ARCC Council, the Regulations on the procedures of the ARCC , rules of procedure in matters of mergers and acquisitions and rules of leniency and immunity in matters of competition.
