While in Ouagadougou, the President of the West African Development Bank (BOAD) Serge Ekoué, as well as the President of the Foundation for Studies and Research on International Development (FERDI), Patrick Guillaumont, was received in audience, on Thursday, November 18, 2021, by the President of the WAEMU Commission, Abdoulaye Diop.

The presidents of Boad, Serge Ekué, and Abdoulaye Diop of the UEMOA Commission reviewed the cooperation between the two institutions, particularly on the file of the Energy Development Fund (FDE). Set up on September 25, 2009, the FDE was the subject of an initial endowment of 250 billion FCFA matched by the BCEAO (190 billion FCFA) and the UEMOA Commission (60 billion FCFA). Subsequently, the Kingdom of Belgium contributed to the FDE to the tune of 11 million euros, or 7.2 billion FCFA. According to the UEMOA commission, to date, the Fund has financed 16 projects, for a total amount of 244.93 billion FCFA, of which thirteen 13 carried by the Member States of UEMOA, relate to the development of the offer energy and 03 by the WAEMU Commission in the field of energy efficiency. The two personalities also addressed the issue relating to the Regional Unit for the Development of Public-Private Partnerships (URDPPP) which has started its activities and has regularly convened the PPP Advisory Committee composed of all the WAEMU Member States as well as than the Commission.
