The World Bank through the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) are working with the Congolese authorities to facilitate access to electricity. The new financing agreement was signed during the official visit of President Félix Tshisekedi with the delegation of the two vice-presidents of the World Bank in Kinshasa.

The DRC benefits from an investment of 400 million USD from the World Bank. It is a partnership under the World Bank Group's Scaling Mini-Grid program to provide clean, reliable and affordable electricity to more than 1.5 million beneficiaries, including homes, businesses , schools and hospitals. With its sister organizations, the World Bank and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), IFC will work with Congolese authorities to attract private operators to develop, finance and operate mini-grids through public partnerships -private. The objective is to support the DRC in its ambition to connect 30% of its population to electricity by 2024, against barely 19% currently.
