In Benin, the authorities want to create favorable conditions for the competitiveness of farming systems. Thus, in the Council of Ministers last Wednesday, the members of the government approved the national strategy for financing the agricultural sector for the period 2021-2030.

The implementation of the national agricultural sector financing strategy will lead to the mobilization of heavy investments valued at CFAF 220 billion. These funds will make it possible to finance three major specific programs. The first relates to the strengthening of the institutional and regulatory framework for agricultural financing, and should absorb 5.256 billion FCFA. The second program relates to the development of sustainable financing mechanisms for the agricultural sector. And it will cost 212.5 billion CFA francs. Finally, there is the strengthening of support structures for agricultural enterprises and producer organizations for 2.2 billion FCFA. The Minister of Agriculture and his other colleagues concerned have been instructed to methodically initiate actions to achieve the expected results.
