After the signing of the deed of transfer of ownership of the 26 works of the royal treasures of Abomey, on Tuesday November 9, 2021, in Paris, the works of art are now in Cotonou. A grand ceremony was organized on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 to welcome them.

The 26 works from the treasures of the Kingdom of Abomey, looted by France, are back in Cotonou in the afternoon of this Wednesday, November 10, 2021. The deed of transfer of ownership being signed yesterday Tuesday, November 9 at the Élysée , they return definitively to the national heritage, after nearly 130 years of residence in France. An exceptional ceremony was organized for this purpose at the Marina Palace under the chairmanship of the Head of State.

Patrice Talon, on the occasion of the welcoming ceremony of the 26 works of treasures of the Kingdom of Abomey, thanked all the different people who campaigned for this return to be a reality. The number 1 of the Beninese took the opportunity to inform the audience that an exhibition of these works will take place in the coming months at the Presidency of the Republic. According to the program, the 26 works will have to remain in the boxes used for transport to Benin for two (02) months, in a room fitted out for the occasion. The objective is to facilitate their acclimatization. It is only at the end of this acclimatization process that they will be exhibited in the People's Hall.
