This meeting will see the participation of several heads of state and ministers, leaders of the private sector, as well as leaders of African civil society.
The International Summit on Cybersecurity, co-organized by Togo and the ECA will be held in Lomé for two days. According to Cina Lawson, Minister of Digital Economy and Digital Transformation of Togo, this Summit aims to make cybersecurity a top priority for States. Many personalities, among others, the President of the Togolese Republic, HE Mr. Faure Essozimna GNASSINGBÉ, the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), Mrs. Vera Songwe, the President of the ECOWAS Commission, Mr. Jean Claude Kassi Brou, will participate in the work. “Now that the regulatory frameworks have largely been put in place, we wish to propose innovative ideas in terms of operational cooperation, to face the threats, in a concrete and decisive way. Our resources being limited, we have no choice but to work together,” she adds. In detail, these two days of work will notably make it possible to explore and assess the state of cybersecurity in Africa from the point of view of its five constituent elements, the state of cooperation in cybersecurity at the regional and global levels, as well as commitment to the African Union Convention (Malabo Convention) on cybersecurity and personal data protection.
