Rainforest Alliance, a standard for sustainability in agriculture, organized on Tuesday 22 and Wednesday 23 October in Abidjan, a workshop to reflect on its Sectoral Partnerships program for sustainable cocoa farming in Côte d'Ivoire. The Ministries of Water and Forests, Agriculture and Employment and Social Protection took part in this meeting which aims to share the progress made in the implementation of the theories of change of the Sectoral Partnerships program. And formulate recommendations for improvement at the end of the discussions. The five-year Sector Partnerships (SP) Program (2016-2020) is led by Rainforest Alliance, formerly UTZ, with funding from the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It intends to contribute to inclusive growth and the integration of sustainable agriculture in the cocoa sector, through the active participation, inclusion and strengthening of civil society organizations and producer groups, with particular attention to gender. In Côte d'Ivoire, the Sector Partnerships program complements and reinforces Rainforest Alliance (RA) supply chain-based interventions around cocoa certification to participate in changes beyond the production level linked to the strengthening groups of farmers, gender, the fight against climate change and the fight against child labour. This program is implemented in nine countries (Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Guatemala, Honduras, Indonesia, Kenya, Malawi, Nicaragua, Uganda) with partners including civil society (including farmer groups and cooperatives) , actors from the public and private sectors, research institutes, networks and platforms.
