Like countries around the world, Benin is celebrating this October 14, 2021, World Standards Day. In this context, the Beninese government reaffirmed its commitment to guarantee consumer protection and the competitiveness of “Made in Benin” products on the national, regional and international markets.

The International Cooperation for Standardization, composed of the International Organization for Standardization, the International Electrotechnical Commission and the International Telecommunication Union, places this year's edition under the theme “a common vision for a better world”. In her message, the Minister of Industry and Trade has recalled that the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which aim to reduce social inequalities, develop a sustainable economy and curb climate change, are extremely ambitious. Achieving these objectives will require cooperation between many partners in the public and private sectors, and the use of all available tools, including International Standards and conformity assessment.

It indicates that the standardization system as a whole bears witness to the power of cooperation and the belief, through the combined efforts of experts from all over the world during the process of developing international standards, that we are stronger than the sum of all our parts.
