The Bceao has analyzed the situation of the business climate in the member countries of the UEMOA. In its “Monthly Statistics Bulletin”, the institution indicates that the business climate indicator has improved slightly.

According to the Bceao, during the month of August 2021, the business climate indicator confirmed its maintenance above its long-term trend, which reflects a favorable opinion of business leaders on the evolution of the conjuncture. This indicator came out at 102.8 against 101.6 the previous month. The trade turnover index rose 14.9%, year on year, in August 2021, after rising 10.4% the previous month. Similarly, the index of turnover in market services increased by 16.0% during the period under review, after an increase of 15.3% a month earlier. Based on official data, the inflation rate stood at 3.5% year-on-year at the end of August 2021, stable compared to the previous month.
