The tech giant, Google is abandoning its bank account project, called Google Plex. This feature was to open a bank account with eleven partner banks directly from the Google Pay application.

It is now clear that entering the world of banking is not easy, even for a Gafa. After several years of development, Google finally gave up on its bank account project, dubbed Google Plex. With Google Plex, the tech giant did not want to become a bank itself, but rather to make it accessible from its Google Pay application to open deposit and savings accounts. In November 2020, the Mountain View giant had also announced a first partnership with the American bank Citigroup in particular. Eventually, eleven banks were to be integrated into this project. Like Google, Apple, Amazon or Facebook have also gone through the back door of payments to shake up the world of finance with their easy-to-use applications.
