The World Bank has granted financing of 145 billion FCFA to Burkina Faso for the launch of works on the Lomé-Ouagadougou-Niamey corridor. The signing of the agreement took place on September 29, 2021 in Ouagadougou.

The establishment of the so-called smart corridor is driven by the deployment of an integrated transport information system, the improvement of border crossing facilities, transit processes and procedures at the borders between Burkina Faso , Togo and Niger and the improvement of feeder roads around the corridor with the rehabilitation of National Road No. 17 and regional roads 32 and 06. The financial envelope of the World Bank is made up of a grant and of a loan. This fund will make it possible to reduce the cost but also the time of transport between Ouagadougou and Lomé or Ouagadougou and Niamey. Also this infrastructure will facilitate the transit of travelers from Niamey who wish to go to Lomé.
