Following the meeting of its board of directors, the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) granted financing to Togo to support its electrification projects in remote areas. The financial envelope is 20.1 million dollars, or just over 11 billion FCFA.

Togo has just benefited from support of 11 billion FCFA from the Islamic Development Bank. This fund will be used to finance rural electrification programs through the construction of mini-solar power plants. The long-term objective is to guarantee “a sustainable supply of electricity to the rural population of Togo who live in dense and sparsely populated areas, far from the existing network”. In addition to this disbursement, there is support of $20 million from the Lives and Livelihoods fund, a financial instrument of the IDB. Overall, it aims to improve the level of human development while increasing access to electricity in rural areas.
