Afreximbank's new office will serve Central Africa from Yaoundé. It is temporarily installed in the premises located in the building of the headquarters of the National Social Security Fund (CNPS). The creation of an Afreximbank regional office for Central Africa is in line with the continued growth of the Bank's geographical coverage. The new Yaoundé office brings the number of Afreximbank regional offices across Africa to five.
In the medium term, the Regional Office for Central Africa should strengthen the financial services sector by improving and expanding the region's access to affordable and competitive financing, as well as its advisory services, for a set of local banks, exporters, importers and national investments. The bank intends to grant consumption and refinancing lines to banks, up to more than $500 million, over the next five years. With the opening of the bank, we aim to quintuple the bank's interventions in the Central African sub-region, to reach $5 billion [2,799.8 billion FCFA] in the next three years. The bank will increase the number of banks that will benefit from credit facilities in the region. Today we are at 4 and in the next two years, we want to increase to 15 banks”, declared René Awambeng, head of customer relations.
