The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) sets out to conquer Central Africa. It intends to open an office in Cameroon shortly.

Afreximbank intends to conquer the money market of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC) with the opening of an office in Yaoundé, responsible for supervising the entire sub-region. The bank is organizing from September 20 to 23, 2021 in the Cameroonian capital, a roadshow devoted, among other things, to the holding of the board of directors to appoint the leaders of the sub-regional office, the popularization of its products and services, but also the promotion of the Continental Free Trade Area (ZLECAF).

According to sources, Afreximbank which has already obtained the approval of the Central African Banking Commission (COBAC) has a registered capital of more than 10 billion FCFA (17.8 million dollars) already marks its territory, since the Douala agency should be operational at the same time as the representation in Yaoundé. Before setting up in Cameroon, the bank had to its credit the financing of several activities, such as the 25 billion FCFA (44 million dollars) released in 2018 in partnership with the African Development Bank (AfDB) for the financing of the agricultural sector.
