A Sino-Ghanaian consortium is currently in pole position to build the Limbe gas-fired power plant with a capacity of 350 MW. In 2014, Cameroon signed a memorandum of understanding for the construction of the Limbé power plant with Eranove, an independent electricity and water producer, controlled by the investment fund Emerging Capital Partners.

With a production capacity of 350 MW, the future Limbé gas-fired power plant aims to improve the supply of electrical energy in the Littoral, West and South-West regions, indicates the Minee. The project itself must be delivered no later than 2024, according to the official timetable. The Minister of Water and Energy (Minee), Gaston Eloundou Essomba, has just published the results of the call for tenders launched on May 7, 2020 for the pre-qualification of partners, with a view to carrying out the studies, construction and operation in "Build Operate Transfer" (BOT) mode of the Limbé gas-fired power plant (350 MW) and associated power lines. Referring to the list of pre-qualified companies, consulted by Invest in Cameroon, the Sino-Ghanaian consortium Sunon Asogli Power Limited (Ghana)/China Energy Engineering Corporation Limited, headquartered in Tema, Ghana, is ranked number one in front of four other candidates.
