Deputy Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Treasury Eric Meyer intends to assist the Democratic Republic of Congo in implementing innovative initiatives, fighting corruption and money laundering/Finances.

The Minister of Finance, Nicolas Kazadi spoke with Eric Meyer about the fight against corruption and money laundering in the Democratic Republic of Congo. During this exchange by videoconference, Eric Meyer congratulated the Democratic Republic of Congo for the structural reforms already undertaken, which are producing tangible results, in particular, the renewed relationship with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which resulted in the expanded credit facility of 1.5 billion dollars to support economic growth and strengthen the country's reserves. Nicolas Kazadi expressed the country's ambition to improve the ratio of public revenue to Gross Domestic Product compared to the level of other countries in sub-Saharan Africa by exploiting the country's fiscal potential. The national sponsor reported on another ongoing initiative to create a national financial institution dedicated to development, which has already received the support of several bilateral and multilateral donors. The aim is to finance and implement development projects under the best conditions of coherence, efficiency and transparency. This institution, which could be a bank or a development agency, will help strengthen the country's capacities over the long term.
