The State of Senegal has just implemented a new 3% levy on the value of certain goods. Import-export players are not ready to see their sector of activity improve. According to the Director General of Customs, “this levy applies to goods of third party origin to UEMOA and ECOWAS, declared for consumption under the common law regime. The rate of this levy is 3%. Its base consists of the customs value of goods released for consumption,” he explains in a statement. However, goods from the ECOWAS zone, UEMOA, gas products, rice, wheat, wheat flour, medicines and goods falling within Chapter 30 of the Harmonized System, are not

affected by this levy.
