China has just approved the biggest project ever piloted. This project combines solar and wind farms in Inner Mongolia to produce up to 67,000 tonnes of green hydrogen.

The implementation of the project will start as early as October 2021 and should be operational by mid-2023. Green hydrogen, produced from electricity of renewable origin, is expected to play a major role in the energy transition in most countries of the world. China is no exception. Inner Mongolia, a Chinese region known for its significant mining resources, has just given the green light to a mega project of solar and wind farms intended to produce green hydrogen. The infrastructure consists of a set of parks, located near the cities of Ordos and Baotou, will thus produce up to 1.85 gigawatts of solar energy and 370 megawatts of wind energy, according to a report by the Association. for promoting the hydrogen energy industry quoted by Bloomberg. Enough to produce up to 67,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year, the document specifies. Enough to replace 680 million liters of gasoline per year, if this hydrogen was used entirely in fuel cell cars.
